It is hard for me to believe we have been in our new home in Puerto Viejo for four weeks!!! It feels as if we have been here forever in some respects - it just feels so much like home. The acclimation time for us was very short. It took a week or so to get our bodies acclimated to the change in temperature and humidity but other than that, the acclimation has just been to those things like where do we go for what types of groceries, who has the best beer prices :-) , what is the best time to visit the fish market (late morning), and what different things cost. For instance, our cell phone costs us less than $10 a month but electricity is very comparable to the prices in the united states. Food is also comparable to the states except for that which is grown here. The bicycles we bought are very rugged and were around $100 which I thought was reasonable.
One thing that we are having trouble adapting to is the VERY uncomfortable furniture. It looks good but if you want to just sit and read a book for an hour or so it doesn't work too well. However - that is why we have the hammocks!!! We are actually going to go to Guapiles tomorrow to check out a furniture store to see if there is something that we might be able to buy that would be better. I am not holding my breath though. I will say that the beds we have are extremely comfortable and that is the most important thing for me. As a side note - Since we have been here I have slept all night except for just a very few nights. That is a miracle!!! I spent the last thirty years getting around three to four hours of sleep because the jobs I held were so stressful that I just never could relax. Even if I went on vacation I had trouble sleeping. This is like a new life - actually I guess it IS a new life!!! Pura Vida!!!
I can't believe you are sleeping! You sound great, we can't wait to see your new place. When are you buying those 4 airline tickets?!! =)
